DESMOROSSO
PRESENTATION

Great wine is born from the inspiration of a great mind, with grapes grown in a vineyard cultivated with rigorous agricultural control and a mature operating philosophy, and a defined production style tempered by experience. Few companies were as prepared as Le Pignole, and none were able to take on the challenge of creating the first wine worthy of the Ducati name; the result was a masterpiece, Desmorosso.
The vines of Le Pignole sink their roots into the Colli Berici soil, whose structure unites its characteristic of volcanic origin with the presence of marine sediments, limestone (great drainage) and basalt (called Sasso Moro, the base of the geological configuration). The volcanic origins of the Colli Berici are confirmed by the presence of natural chimney residue of past volcanic eruptions. So like a winning motorcycle that is the result of a harmonious assembly of mechanical components, electronics, chassis, and tires, Desmorosso is the result of a harmonious assembly of natures elements.
Desmorosso is created with a variety of grapes, coming from hillside vineyards with a limited production of 50q per hectare. The Cabernet Sauvignon contributes to notes of woodlands, red berries, and jams; during the aging period, this variety imparts the important scent of spices to the vintage. The Merlot has austerity and structure, with the characteristic of improving with age when bottled. The Carmenere offers freshness and varied tones.
After a careful vinification of these three varieties, the result is three well structured wines. Each variety will mature and age in French oak barrels, for 14 months. During this aging process, each vintage acquires stability and a complex personality.
The final step in the production of Desmorosso is the assembly. The wines are blended in the following proportion: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Carmenere.
Desmorosso is a wine of intense garnet red color, with a perfume ample and intense expressed through notes of small berries (blackberries, blueberries and cassis) and cherry jam with delicate nuances of sweet spices. The taste is soft, balanced and pleasantly enveloping, with notable persistence, character and strong personality.
Desmorosso and Ducati: a superb wine, worthy of a great motorcycle.

LE PIGNOLE VINEYARD
Since its beginning, Le Pignole vineyard -under the leadership of the owner Paolo Padrin- has pursued one goal, to create wines with strong personalities that express the qualities of the Colli Berici.
Through strong research and experimentation program, in the vineyard and in the cellar, rigorous quality control of the production line, the search for wines that symbolized creativity and tradition and a natural understanding of the international market, Le Pignole has become a company leader in striving for the excellence.
In addition to the traditional local vine, Le Pignole utilizes the well know French grapes, as know as international such as: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Carmenere for the reds; and Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio representing the whites.
For their fine line of red wines, Le Pignole uses the traditional Bordeaux Style technique of blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.
This union of three grapes is a centuries old technique perfected and utilized in the Bordeaux region of France and is credited with creating some of the finest wines in the world. The Cabernet Sauvignon, a complex and distinctive grape, brings a tannic structure, intense aroma, rich and persistent flavor, but also great finesse; the Cabernet Franc has notable earth notes and strong aroma; while the Merlot confers strength and yields soft notes, delicate nuances of fruit and silkiness which mitigate the austerity of the wine.
It is no coincidence that Le Pignole is a Bordeaux style vineyard: in the Colli Berici, like in other parts of Veneto, the vines sink their roots into a soil whose structure and climate are optimal for producing grapes for blending. The resultant wines tend to be substantial and suitable for aging. Experts believe that the Veneto region, like Northern California and Bordeaux, is one of the three areas in the world where producing the finest wine is possible.
In the vineyard there are other grapes of Bordeaux heritage, the Carmenere and the Petit Verdot. The Carmenere yield wines of beautiful color, rich and soft, while the Petit Verdot give rise to a wine with balance, harmony, and character, sweet and enveloping tannins, and suitable for the maturation process.
